Deputy Ministers Nguyen Manh Cuong

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong was born in 1973 in Nghe An Province. Joining the diplomatic service in 1997, he has held positions related to strategic research, foreign policy, foreign economics, cultural diplomacy, and personnel training and development. He is currently a Member of the 13th Party Central Committee and has previously been assigned by the Party and State to important positions such as Secretary of the Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee (2021-2024) and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations (2018-2021, November 2024 - February 2025).

DIPLOMATIC CAREER

From 1997, Mr. Nguyễn Mạnh Cường worked at the Department of Economic General Affairs (now the Department of Economic Diplomacy), Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From September 2002 to November 2005, he served as Attaché at the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO in Paris, France.

In May 2010, he was appointed Deputy Director-General, Deputy Director of the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From May 2011 to November 2014, he was Director of the Center for Foreign Affairs Training and Development, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From November 2014 to January 2018, he was appointed Director-General of the Department of Research and Synthesis, Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations.

In January 2018, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations. In June 2020, he was elected Secretary of the Party Committee of the Commission for External Relations agency, and from October 2020, he joined the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies Bloc for the 2020-2025 term.

On January 30, 2021, at the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, he was elected a Member of the 13th Party Central Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

In July 2021, the Politburo reassigned and appointed him to the position of Secretary of the Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee. In November 2024, the Politburo reassigned and assigned him to the position of Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations.

From February 2025, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs by the Prime Minister.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong has received numerous forms of commendation from the Party, the State, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Medal "For the Cause of Diplomacy," and the Medal "For the Cause of National Defence."
